Robert "Bob" Michael Lucas, 87, of Harwich Port, MA passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on August 5, 2017.

Robert was born January 13, 1930 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Michael J. and Anna N. Lucas. After a childhood in Scranton, he attended MIT in Cambridge and graduated in 1951. He later went on to earn his Master's degree at Northeastern University in Boston. On May 30, 1953 he married the former Joan Anne Emery in Boston. Bob was employed as a mechanical engineer for over 35 years at Arthur D. Little, working on sophisticated projects for NASA and others, including the lunar lander and space shuttle programs. He was a natural problem-solver and had a brilliant mind for all things technical.

Bob was a beloved member of his retirement community, The Melrose, where he was admired for his ability and willingness to fix and repair anything, and for his passion for both Scrabble and Bridge. He also loved reading and doing crossword puzzles, and above all spending time with this children and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his sister Nancy A, Egan, Johnson, RI: his three children, Peter Michael Lucas and his wife Marcie Chase of San Diego, CA, Paul David Lucas and his wife Bonnie Chasen Lucas of Melrose, MA, and Christine Anne Lucas and C.G. Schwenke of Olney, MD; four grandchildren, Valerie Ann Harbaugh and her sister Rachel Marie Lucas, and Ian Lucas Schwenke and his sister Audrey Virginia Schwenke. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Anna and Michael, and his wife Joan in 2000.
